Blurs of red, white, black. All converging into one. It sent Hibiki's head reeling. "Momma!" He screeched,
picking his way through the snapping, the sprays of blood. The foaming-mouth disease Hibiki thought. But
no, it wasn't that putrid disease. it was worse, far worse. It was devastating enough to bring the pack of
Raging Storms to the ground and slice it's neck wide open. Hibiki staggered feebly, trying to find his family,
his father.... His siblings. A wolf noticed a slower moving white blob, a pup! and easier target...
"C'meeeere little young'un!" the crazy old cag snapped. "It won't hurt, I just want a biiiiiite!" Hibiki
high-tailed it into the nursery den, pressing himself to the very back of the cave. He started gasping for air,
as if all of the precious particles were sucked from the universe. Hibiki then was shadowed, the wolf lumbering
towards him. "DADDY! MOMMA!" Hibiki cried, "I promise I won't put a dead beetle on Maya's head when she
is sleeping... I PROOMISEE I won't go out at night ever again! I-I..." He choked, the tuft on the top of
his head quivering madly.
Hibiki bawled and sniffed as the wolf inched closer... Closer... The old wolf stepped on Hibiki's tail and
leaned forward his weight on it fully. The frail snap was followed by a blood-curdling scream, from the old
wolf. Hibiki opened his eyes, the his tired eyes finding the comforting face of his father. "Where's m-"
Hibiki's father cut him off abruptly, grabbing him by the scruff stalking out from behind the nursery. There lay
Hibiki's mother, curled up and shivering. Hibiki struggled against his father's grip, but he wouldn't let go.
Raia's head swung to face Hibiki, her eyes burning with fury. She staggered up, pacing towards the male and pup
rather slowly. Raia hesitated, the old gleam in her eyes holding her back.
"T-that wolf is not your mother.... Hibiki." Maya peered out from the lichen and moss that covered a crack in a
wall. She bounded towards Raia and was only met with a firm smack of the paw. Hibiki had slapped her. "Maya,
that ISN'T momma!" Hibiki cried, "I'm sorry, but she will kill you!" he fell in front of Maya, curling on
her tiny paws. She rested her head on Hibiki's closing her eyes and ears firmly. She didn't want to see or hear
what was to happen to their distorted mother. Hibiki's father, Roku, stepped forward and placed his paw on
Raia's neck. Roku started to cry softly as he then proceeded to put Raia out of her misery. Raia writhed on the
floor, blood leaking through the bite mark on her neck every time she struggled to breathe.
She was gone. Raia lay motionless, the pool of blood that formed from her neck was staining the ground, seeping
into the tiny cracks of the cave floor. Maya broke free from Hibiki, screeching in agony."Mom?!" She cried,
shaking prodding her cheek with her tiny paw. Raia's eyes were half-opened, the once bright burning light gone.
Hibiki inched towards his mother holding tears back that threatened to spill out all at once.
Roku kept his jaw clenched placing his chin on Raia's soft neck-fur, tears seeping through the thin white
strands of his face. Hibiki leaned into his mother. The thundering was gone. The constant thump thump.
Gone. Hibiki panicked, he hadn't realized his dad would kill their mother. "Where's Kodi and Imani..?" Maya
finally spoke up. "Faaaar faaar away..." Roku whispered,"They are safe at a hidden den." Maya backed away from
her mother, and swiped her tiny paw over he two eyes, closing them. Hibiki was pressed to Raia's cold belly,
wanting to feel the warmth that was once there. Roku grabbed Hibiki by the scruff of his neck and stalked away,
Maya close to his side.
*Hibiki's perspective*
I couldn't bear to see this day. Dad, he was infected. I was filled with a deep... Anguish. Imani's black coat
flashed past me. She toppled Roku over, and I was frozen, like my bones had become stone. Imani nipped dad's
maw. I finally snapped out of the daze, and I charged for Imani.Kodiak yanked my tail back as I was rushing in
to knock Imani off of our father. "Let her do the dirty work, runt" He snapped, closing his jaws in front of my
face. "Kodiak! STOP it!" I heard his mate, Jazmin call. "Stay out of this, Jazmin!" He growled, letting go of my
tail. I made a run for it. Imani had her jaws clenched around my father's neck. I ripped her from my father,
toppling with her down a rolling slope. I then heard something gasp for air. The wheezing and gurgling of
something horrendous.
I raced to the top of the hill. My dad, my father. His throat was ripped open, Maya stood above him, trembling,
her black muzzle drenched. "MAYA NOOO!" I screamed, racing to our father. "Glarbsh..blaardgsh" Roku choked. I
started to hyperventilate my lungs excruciatingly lacking air. I bit at Maya's ear, sending half of it flying
through the air. She closed her eyes tightly, clenching her teeth. She would not scream, cry, or run. She took
in all the pain and sorrow. Maya grew up. She grew up faster then me. "I'm... So sorry.." She finally murmured,
her voice cracking slightly. I stared in horror at my dad's motionless body.
